‘Omertà’ trailer: Rajkummar Rao plays the role of terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh
16 March 2018

The film directed by Hansal Mehta is slated to hit the screens on April 20.

Rajkummar Rao is back and this time around with a nail-biting thriller. Omertà (meaning ‘code of silence’), directed by Hansal Mehta, narrates the story of the British terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh. With snapshots that go into the training and the making of a terrorist, the trailer then zooms into the various terror attacks instigated by Omar.

The trailer then ends with someone asking Rao,"Who are you," to which he replies, "I am the saviour." The film covers some of the most brutal terror attacks in the world including the 1994 Delhi kidnappings, the 2001 September 11 attacks, the Daniel Pearl kidnapping and many more.

“It is a film without a protagonist as the lead character is an antagonist. It is an unusual narrative and I call it a brief history of terrorism,” Hansal Mehta said in an interview. Shot in real madarasas and mosques, Mehta said it cuts into the events that have emerged out of this twisted mind. “However, it doesn’t romanticise or glorify him." Produced by Nahid Khan, the movie is presented by Swiss Entertainment and Karma Media.

The film is scheduled to released on April 20, 2018.
