BJP announces Delhi election panel
25 August 2013

In its attempt to end resentment against Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel, the party's state unit on Sunday appointed leaders of different factions in its election committee and core group. However, both the bodies will be headed by Goel.

As Goel supporters claimed that he would have the final say in decision-making, his detractors vowed that his wings would be clipped. The election committee - which comprises 17 members and seven special invitees - includes V.K. Malhotra, O.P. Kohli, Mangeram Garg, Harshvardhan, Vijendra Gupta, Jagdish Mukhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, R.P. Singh and Pravesh Verma.

The election core group comprises 54 members including prominent leaders like Madan Lal Khurana, Vijay Jolly, Vani Tripathi, Arti Mehra, and Meenakshi Lekhi. Most senior Delhi BJP leaders had problems with Goel and alleged that he was acting alone and not taking the party along.
